How and What We Fund
How We Fund
As a proactive funder, we can only respond to proposals we have requested.
We find partners through active research, collaboration and networks, rather than open applications, and make multi-year grants to a select number of organisations.
To reach local groups, we often collaborate with other funders. Our partners include local Community Foundations across the UK.
We also provide Make a Difference and Staff Matching schemes, supporting charities nominated by former and current employees of the John Laing Group.
Our approach is rooted in working with partners that reflect Sir John Laing's values, the Trust's aims and priorities, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and environmental responsibility.
What We Fund
JLCT’s major grant funding is focused strategically on the four key areas listed below.
Homelessness
To end the cycle of homelessness by supporting holistic services for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including long term accommodation models.
Community
To support people facing financial hardship, isolation and marginalisation by strengthening community-based services.
Young People
To empower young people facing disadvantage and support pathways to education, training, employment and skills-for-life, towards independence.
Skills & Education
To improve access to education and employability skills for people facing greater barriers, particularly in areas of high deprivation.
